It`s a Family Business! Where work becomes a family matter

Handler has been a family business since it was founded in 1862 and this company culture is still reflected today. From management to employees.

FATHER AND SON, A POWERFUL TEAM

Elias Haindl really pushes it! The IT apprentice originally from the Bucklige Welt is an enthusiastic and successful downhill biker. In 2024, he was on the podium at competitions such as the “Wexl Enduro Race”, “Bike the Bugles”, “Auner Austrian Gravity Series” and the Lower Austrian State Championships. His family and especially his father, Christian Haindl, are always there as his biggest fans. But they also make a good team off the racetrack.

Christian started working for Handler as a carpenter apprentice when he was still a teenager. He has now been with the company for 32 years and is an upcoming warehouse manager. In 2024, Elias also started his career at Handler and began his apprenticeship as an IT systems technician.

FAMILY BUSINESS IN EVERY WAY

A story like the one told of Elias and Christian is not an exceptional case at Handler. Employees and workers have been working at the company for several generations in a row. Although the company has around 500 employees, you can feel how deeply rooted Handler is in the area. The prevailing family atmosphere is hardly surprising, as Markus Handler represents the fifth generation of the family to run the company. Training and developing employees within the company is very important to him and he has recognized how important it is to keep them.

„The lack of skilled workers means that well-trained people are actively being headhunted.
That is why we nurture competent and motivated employees beyond their apprenticeship and
support them on their career path – all the way to management.“

– Markus Handler, CEO HANDLER Gruppe

The development opportunities at Handler are diverse. Whether it’s an apprenticeship, training as a foreman or supervisor or a job in the office. Many apprentices make a career in the company and develop into responsible employees with leadership skills.
